Campo Felice (AQ)

Skiing in Abruzzo

The Campo Felice Plateau, of Karst-alluvial origin, is surrounded by the Velino massif, the Cagno-Ocre mountain chain and the Duchessa Mountains.

Located at an average altitude of 1,500 m.a.s.l., the plateau is characterised by the presence of beech woods and water basins, one of which, ‘Il Lago’, is formed by snow-melting in May/June.

The ‘Centomonti’ cross-country skiing complex, deriving its name from the many mountains around it, located in the eastern part of the plateau, is made up of a network of about 20 km of cross country skiing trails, always groomed, for both Classic and Skating Techniques.

The Centomonti trail, FISI approved, B type, is certainly more suitable for expert skiers due to its significant slope gradients; ‘La Miniera’, so called because it passes by an old disused pit, is suitable for those who wish to practice cross-country skiing and at the same time relax immersed in the enchanting scenery of snow-clad woods.

Also available are snowshoe trails, quite demanding ski touring routes, a dog sledding trail where you can frequently spot sleds hauled by dogs, and a snowmobile circuit.

Here you will find equipment rental facilities and you can book with an instructor to learn the basics of skiing, snowshoeing, bobsledding and snowmobiling, both on circuit and on guided itineraries, also with tow behind passenger sled.
